Monday, January 14, 2008 Well, have been bloggin on my cell's blog for psalms, so havent been blogging on this blog. But i shall blog on today. so special indeed. =) Actually, need to rewind abit to wed, leader's mtg. Ps julie was sharing on deut 6:4-19. Three points, 1) remember who God is. 2) Hear and obey. 3) Fear the Lord. She gave such a beautiful explanation on the familiar verse, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Heart means loving God with all my thoughts and mind, not just the emotions, but the thinking.. like u love someone, u will think about that person day n night. Same! but what's amazing is the word strength. Love demands strength. Sounds weird? maybe, but it's true. It takes effort to love. Like loving an unlovable, you need to make yourself love him/her no matter what. Even if that person is lovable, you still need to find time, accept his/her characters, appreciate them.... And ps julie said, if u want to be intimate with God, you have to draw near. But drawing nearer means we need to have the fear of a holy God. Which is why we need to repent of our sins, receive and give forgiveness, forget the good n bad, and get rid of all the bad habits, attitudes etc. And when we do all these, we come naked before God, with nothing to hide.. that's where there is intimacy. There was an invitation to enter into God's rest, to pray that we can grow more intimate with the Lord. But i wasnt sure if it was me.... Then today, during church, first they dedicate the teachers. HAHA. me n kit went forward cos we training teachers mah. Haha. Receive anointing and blessing for practicum lor. (: and for the rest of the year. No more dedication le, better go. kiasu. heh. Then sermon on psalm 1. Finding the way to God's heart.. 1) we must decide to separate our mind from the world. 2) and delight to saturate our spirit with the word. the second point spoke to me pretty much. Meditation... and when ps melvyn asked, do u spend time reading the word of God? I can say, yes... while travelling, at night before blogging, i will read. But... do u enjoy it? I glurpped. I do... but i know i also tend to rush through and think of it as a duty. What ps melvyn said next totally rocked me from my seat. "According to your faith, it will be done. Because in the spiritual realm, there is no boundary. But we cannot rise up to the level of faith if we dont feed our spirit man." Such a familiar verse... but i saw new revelation. God says there is no limit to what He can do, and He will be able to do all things, if we ask in faith. That is a huge faith? I guess it's a faith that says, "God, You can do it! Do it for me!" Like "Dad, you can buy me a plate of chicken rice. Buy for me!" haha.. sounds out of point? But it's just so simple leh. And it's also very simple how to have that faith... to feed the spirit man by reading His word. That's no all.. it's like buy one get one free. You read His word, you will have a faith to ask of anything and it will be given to you, AND, you will be like a tree transplanted to where God's water is, so that you can bear fruits, be green forever and prosper. Good deal? I think it's more than good! Yes it may be hard for us to keep the passion in reading His word. But we just need to press in, and it will become a habit, like we need to eat food daily. Remember how you crave for a plate of hokkien mee, a cheese burger, an ice cream or whatever ur fav food. same! Finally it's that word "know". God knows us, not just know who we are, what we work as, where we live... He knows us better than our families and best friends. He knows your fav food/drink, knows your thoughts and feelings, knows your sins and strengths, knows what you have done and not be able to share with anyone else... intimacy. He knows. So... today was very special. I have performed according to expectation, but God called me to return to my first love for Him. The curiosity in reading about Him, the excitment in going for events, the joy of serving in whatever pastor asked me to, the passion of sharing and impacting into the lives of my girls, the love that He has always been showing me.
