Monday, May 14, 2007 Had Jackie pullinger come and share her heart for the poor over the weekend. She's a very nice lady, not used to all the high tech stuff, simple, powerful... she spoke from her heart. =) Learnt so many things... very important lessons. Why do we minister to the poor 1) Because Jesus did. Ministry with the poor is a way of life and attitude of heart. Jesus did, so if we want to follow Him, we do. Love and care genuinely like Jesus. When the people know u love and care, they will see the Savior. 2) When we are used up, we get His, which is bigger. 2 Cor 4:10 - When we minister, our hearts will be broken. The gospel gives life to the receiver but brings death to the givers. Jesus died for me, can i not give the things i have? And when i give, i will feel needy along the way, that's when He fills me up. A new defination to GRACE, God's help when i am deficient. When we run out, we got grace... 3)It demonstrates the cross. God uses the weak things to shame the strong. And at the conference, through the lives of the team, i saw how God can use the ordinary to do extraordinary things. And He chose them cos they are weak, they know it's God. Sometimes, we are educated and trained, we think it's our own self... And once again, God points His finger at my heart. Everything is a present from God, nothing is a right. Give freely. God is so amazing. When the collection was made, i struggled. Well, i'm not working not, no income.. feeling abit poor. But i felt i need to give. And God said $10. HAHA. sounds little.. but i was stingy. God, i feel poor. $5 can? Then i'm reminded, if i can spend tt money on food, on buying things for ppl, why cant i give it to God? So, i gave $10. Didnt God say those who give will be blessed? I was. He gave me a vision when jackie sang in tongues, reminding me of a child-like faith and that His work is fun! then on sun, a collection was made for the Love Singapore fund. I knew i had to give. I gave. That small amount may mean a meal to me, but it may mean life to the one receiving. One MacDonald's. vs 4 packets of maggie mee that can give life to a starving person. Throughout these 2 days, if i pin point what is the most important thing i have learnt, it will be love the poor. Love those who are needy, love those who are poor in the spirit. It just calls for genuine love and giving, with no intention for the souls, Just bless and give. When we love the poor, Jesus will give us His heart, Jesus will sustain us, Jesus will be pleased with us. It's not about the nos, the targets, it's the lives.
